Zhang Jie Artist's Statement

Like most young artists, I was trained by the strictly academic education, which influences my manner deeply. Continuing the local color of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, I created amorous Stars in the Distance reflecting the minority life style. I engaged in exploring language. The theme of painting is color and texture in my experiment. I tried my best to unify the concrete and abstract, to express mottled confusing floweriness, light and shadow in a given scene, in a blurred atmosphere, in a delicate color. I launched into abundant metal experience in my painting. As art is being for heart as well as it satisfies the demand of heart, I hope I could express my theme by my deep heart„earth, environment protection, human and nature. All in all, I am long for communicating in artistsÍ spiritual method in abstract, literature and symbolistic manner.

Brief Biography

Zhang Jie, born in Chongqing, Aug. 1963, graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Oil Painting Department in 1988 with a master degree of arts. He is now the Vice-president and a professor of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, member of China Artist Association, member of council of Chongqing Artist Association, deputy secretary-general of Chongqing Culture Development Association, Vice-president of Chongqing Educational Calligraphy and Painting Association.
