Yu-Chen Wang Artist's Statement
I often think my drawings are like the murmurings of lovers. All the spoken words, muttering sounds, transform slowly into organic and fluctuating movement. Gradually they flow with almost unnoticeable speed and fall upon the pale white paper. The hybrid forms articulate tales of eternal and uncanny transformation, existing somewhere between human and animal, they are multi-cellular organisms and the blossoms of illusory plants. These translucent beings are in a state of flux, expanding on the extremely flat surface of dislocation. At first glance, we see the multiform of fluidity, plurality and ambiguity as one or a mixture of many. While on closer examination, they may become the disorderly multiplied and fragmented masses. There is some kind of free magnetic tension in between the components. Sometimes they are strongly attracted to each other and sometimes suspended.
