Vivien Chia-Wen Lee
Artist's Statement
|
A primary concern in VivienÍs practice is creating her own definition of self-portraiture, which she uses as a medium to explore and discuss a personal sense of dislocation and isolation, particularly with regard to her upbringing in Taiwan and relocation to England.
Her work begins with figurative drawings.
She uses materials that she associates with childhood memories and Taiwanese domesticity to create installations. She makes prints and artists books to carry narratives of her journey between eastern and western culture.
