In 1995 I returned to Hong Kong to live in the village in the New Territories where I was born. Having left there since the age of ten, I wanted to experience living and working in Hong Kong before the hand-over of the colony to China. It was also a personal pilgrimage, an opportunity to rekindle the Eastern culture, having been bombarded by the Western influences for so long.
I was to discover that my village was still relatively untouched by the encroaching progress of man which lent a nostalgic charm. In each painting of Hong Kong, I have tried to capture the essence of village life and landscapes and I hope, frozen the idyllic timelessness on canvas.
My other medium is photography. I have been documenting the Chinese who live and work in China Town, London. My pictures are photo-reportage of people going about their lives.
I studied Graphic Design and have worked for numerous design companies, including Pentagram Design (London) and Bechtel Internation Inc., (Hong Kong). I now freelance for various publishing companies in London but continue to pursue a career as a professional artist and photographer.
