Suki Chan
Artist's Statement
|
'Chan uses a minimum of materials to make a major statement about our place in the cosmos,'
Gemma De Cruz, writer/critic
Suki ChanÍs multi-disciplinary practice combines everyday materials and objects with unusual processes and juxtapositions. Using light, paint, moving images and sound, her installations are deceptively simple and minimal, before transforming - often quite suddenly, to reveal swarms of iron filing-like marks, ebbing and flowing in the dark. SukiÍs mini utopias are loaded with symbolic references to time, memory and place, exploring the space between the individual and the social, creating both enchantment and displacement.
