| Li E Chen is a London-based Multimedia and Performance
Artist who works with film, video, animation, dance, theatre,
music, photography, interactive media, science and technology.
She is interested in experimental arts and stage collaboration
works. Her current research is in mathematics and experimental
theatre.
Li E's art aims in using new forms of technology concern ways
of understanding movement, where 'form' or 'structure' remains
incomplete. For her, "arts are required not only for understanding
or discovery, but also for invention and playfulness."
"The future of experimental art lies in moving beyond
conceptions of representation that are dominant in visual media.
My art works with asymmetries and dissynchoronies that are necessary
conditions for movement and metamorphosis. Complete systems
are static, whereas new media arts needs to speak to the dynamic,
the open, and the incomplete. Only in this way art can communicate
with life, which is itself incomplete and uncertain." Li
